Hyaluronic Acid Overview
Hyaluronic acid (HA; conjugate base hyaluronate), also called hyaluronan, is an anionic, nonsulfated glycosaminoglycan distributed widely throughout connective, epithelial and neural tissues. It is unique among glycosaminoglycans in that it is nonsulfated, forms in the plasma membrane instead of the Golgi apparatus and can be very large, with its molecular weight often reaching the millions. The average 70 kg (154 lb) person has roughly 15 grams of hyaluronan in the body, one-third of which is turned over (degraded and synthesized) every day
Dermal fillers are made from Hyaluronic Acid, which is a naturally occurring sugar in the body.
When injected, dermal filer has the unique ability to attract and absorb water. It smooths out the injected area at the same time as improving skin tone, hydration and texture.
This product mainly used for plastic surgery, such as reduces wrinkles, anti-aging,shaping facial contours, enhance lip, hump nose, breast and buttock augmentation, etc.
The latest innovation is dermal fillers with lidocaine, which delivers a natural look and feel and is excellent for smoothing nasolabial folds. ReNice with lidocaine has an estimated duration of 15 months.

What are hyaluronic acid implants?
Hyaluronic acid implants are becoming popular as temporary fillers for facial augmentation. Hyaluronic acid is a safe, non-surgical procedure that conveniently softens facial lines and furrows. It also has the added benefit of not requiring skin testing before use. Products available include Re-Nice®, Restylane®, Perlane® , Juvéderm™, Esthélis®. Captique™, Prevelle™, Puragen™, and Elevess™.
How is hyaluronic acid used as a filler?
Tiny quantities of hyaluronic acid are injected through very fine needles, boosting the skin's own hyaluronic acid. Depending how many lines are treated, the treatment takes 20 minutes to an hour, with minimal discomfort (especially with products that contain local anaesthetic agents).
The effects can be maintained by small ‘top-up’ treatments as required, generally about twice a year.
Where can hyaluronic acid injections be used?
Hyaluronic acid injections can be used as a dermal filler to improve the skin's contour and reduce depressions in the skin due to scars, injury or lines.
Facial lines and features that can be corrected using hyaluronic acid implantation include:
Frown lines that run between the eyebrows (glabellar lines)
Smoker's lines which are vertical lines on the mouth (perioral lines)
Marionette lines at the corner of the mouth (oral commissures)
Worry lines that run across the forehead (forehead lines)
Crow's feet at the corner of the eyes (periorbital lines)
Deep smile lines that run from side of the nose to corners of the mouth (nasolabial furrows)
Redefining lip border
Some facial scars
